Early life and Sports activities Minister Isaac Asiamah (Hon.), on Saturday, November 21, 2020 joined GFA President Kurt E.S Okraku and rankings of mourners to pay their closing admire to former Ghana ahead Opoku Afriyie. The funeral happened on the forecourt of the Baba Yara Sports activities stadium in Kumasi.

Opoku Afriyie, affectionately referred to as ‘Bayie’ was once a former Asante Kotoko, Accra Hearts of Oak and Ghana ahead. He died on Sunday, March 29, 2020 after a brief sickness.
He was once a member of Ghana’s 1978 and 1982 Africa Cup of Countries successful squads.
Opoku Afriyie was once the highest scorer within the Ghana league in 1979 and 1981. After putting up his boots, Opoku took up roles as Group Supervisor and Welfare Officer of the Black Stars and Asante Kotoko respectively. He was once 65.
